This video demonstrates a method for determining shear forces in bolts in a member splice. This type of splice is commonly used in wind girders for bolted water tanks. It can also be applied to a lap splice for sections of steel channel acting as a beam. The attached spreadsheet can be used to determine bolt forces for a bolt group in a rectangular pattern.
